Kicks/MAC haul

Hello Everyone and happy weekend! My weekend contains me being sick, a terrible cold, so very unsexy...not the weekend I hoped for but what to do...
I was very excited to receive my MAC-products. I felt a bit better just by getting the black package from KICKS. When it comes to MAC-stuff I usually order them online from kicks.se. Faster, cheaper and more simple then if I would order it from the US. I placed the order on wednesday and got the products on friday, pretty awesome. I might try ordering something from MAC:s swedish website some time, but for now I am pretty satisfied with kicks.
This time I got three eyeshadows and one lipstick. The eyeshadows are called; Lucky green, Humid and Electric eel and the lipstick, Diva. I don´t know if I mentioned it at the last MAC haul, but when you order from kicks.se you get a cute little gift bag. This time I got three little perfumes: Si (Giorgio Armani), Escape to Panarea - Light blue (Dolce & Gabbana) and La Vie est Belle (Lancôme). The last one i´ve tried before and it smells really good.

I love green eyeshadows! A green makeup look suits all occasions, all seasons, day and night. I´m not afraid to use some fun colors for my eye makeup, even on an everyday basis. A green look it probably one of my favorite looks.
A fun tip if you are going to a party or after work or something and don´t have the time to go home in between. Were a pretty green look (or whatever color you prefer) during the day and then just ad some glitter over it before you go to the party and the matte everyday look turns into a sexy, glam look that holds all night.

Electric eel. This is probably my favorite blue eyeshadow! So clear and fresh.

 DIVA! On the website it looks more purple but when I tried it it was more of a dark red with a touch of purple.
And while we're talking about after work-looks, replace the pretty, more discreet lip gloss/lipstick you wore all day, with the Diva lipstick. Tada! from a proper look to an evening look in just a second. 

Another fun package is on its way here and I am super excited! It is something that I have been longing for for quite some time and finally decided to buy. Better late then never...
But for now I´m of to bed for a long night's sleep and hopefully the cold will move on soon.

Just a typical tuesday. You know, work, get home, a quick tour in town and then of to the gym. But why not take away the typical and just do something else...?
After work the plan was to meet my mum and go look for a birthday gift for my sister. The plan was also to do it pretty quick so I could go to the gym and still have enough time to make a nice dinner. BUT since my boyfriend invited some friends over we decided to skip the gym today and instead I went on an impulse shopping tour with mum. We found some nice presents for my sis and I got some pretty "tuesday gifts" for myself. 

 My favorite liquid eyeliner. The IsaDora Colorful eyeliner in black and dark brown. The dark brown I have never tried but i´m sure i´ll like it. The black i´ve been using for years.

Lip balm from The body shop, never tried it but been looking at it for a while and finally decided to buy it. 

Color tattoo 24 HR in Pink Gold. I have it in blue, purple and light brown and they are very good bases when doing your makeup. 

Absolutely not necessary but so cute and pink so I guess that kind of makes it necessary...

A pretty detail to wear at work. And it always feel nice to give a donation to the breast cancer fund.

As a perfect end to this lovely tuesday we met my dad and went for some dinner at Global Living. They have the best prawn sandwiches in town! Love it! And to that, a nice cold beer.
Some new makeup (which i´m looking forward to try of course), a pretty ring and dinner out on the town with my loving family, quite spontaneously...

My Mary Kay

I recently received my new Mary Kay products. So I decided to share it with you guys.
A small rewind, I got in contact with Mary Kay at a girl´s night themed evening in town. So we, my mum and my sister, booked a skin care class. It was so much fun and after that i´ve been to different theme nights and a few weeks ago i went to a makeup class. Wich was very fun as well. My Mary Kay skin care consultant just opened a studio so that´s were the classes are held. But the first class was held at my parents house. And she just takes so good care of you and make the classes and get-togethers so pleasant and like an everyday luxury.

Anyway the products that I bought at the opening of the studio was a cc-cream, a translucent powder and a lipstick. The cc-cream is pretty new and comes in four different tones I think. And it has SPF 15 in it which is very good because you should always protect your skin from the sun. The translucent powder is perfect to set the cc-cream and you don´t have to try out shades that matches your skin tone or cc-cream, or whatever covering product you use. I can also add that I don't use foundation and similar products that often. At the moment I don't even own a foundation. The reason is that i´ve had problems with breakouts and stuff so when I got rid of it (and hopefully it will stay away) I was a bit scared of putting a lot of stuff on my face. But this cc-cream is very light and feels good on my skin. But I still don´t use it every day because I simply don´t feel like I have that much to cover. But I like the cc-cream because like I said it´s light and doesn't feel like a mask on my face and I like the SPF. It hasn't got the same coverage as a foundation but it evens out your skin nicely. So that's great!
The lipstick is the True dimensions in Mystic Plum. It's kind of a purple color but definitely still wearable on an everyday basis if you like to add more color to your lips.

At the makeup class i bought the Mary Kay compact. It's like a small palette that you can customize yourself by filling it with the eyeshadow, blush or lipstick you want. The Compact has room for three eyeshadows and one blush, bronzer or highlighter and one lipstick or lipgloss and three little Compact brushes.
(There is one smaller size, Compact Mini, that holds the same minus the lipstick and one bigger; Compact Pro, that holds a bit more).
I filled my Compact with three eyeshadows, Spun Silk, Hazelnut and Espresso. They are all basic colors in different shades of brown. The blush I got was the Coral Sunrise. And last but not least I added the three little brushes (one for blush and two for eyeshadow).
Why did I get the Compakt? I was looking for something to keep in my purse. I always have a toiletry bag in my purse with all kinds of stuff that can be necessary when you´re away from home. And in that little bag I wanted some sort of everyday-go-to-good-for-all-occasions-makeup-thing. And the Compact filled that quest so that was good!

You buy all the products separately and you attach the colors with a magnet in the Compact.

Second startpost / Makeup Area

So technically this is not a second post (it´s a third post) but I´ll call it a second start post anyway. I've been trying to get my makeup area in order and now most of it is in it´s place. My goal with a makeup area is to make it look nice and to get it in the style I like. At the same time it has to be smart and all the stuff has to be easy to reach for. I like to organize things and want everything to have a good place in the drawer. Messy is not my style...What is my style?...well I´m a bit old fashioned. I love the 50´s (clothes, music, movies, hairstyles...) And I like things to be pretty. My favorite pattern is polka dots! Just love everything with polka dots!
In the heat of the moment I forgot to take before-and-after-pictures! It's like an unwritten rule when you renovate or redo something. But I realized it when the old drawer was empty. Well well...The new drawer is from IKEA, Alex with six drawers. First I looked att the Alex nine drawer but when I went to the store and saw the six drawer I thought i was much more suitable for makeup. The nine drawer has deeper drawers but I don´t like the idea of stacking the makeup. It should be easy to get an overview. So the six drawer with wider drawers and not as deep felt better. As a beautiful topping to the drawer I got an orchid in a lovely purple color and a cute little candle holder. To that I added one of my jewelry holders that i've painted and decorated myself a few years ago, in the shape of a woman's body. My perfumes stands on a little striped box in black and white (I have three more boxes with the same pattern but different shapes). As a perfect detail and complement to this I placed a book on the drawer as well. It´s called Vogue - Den stora boken om skönhet (The big book about beauty). It´s so charming! Written in the 1980´s so the models and styles is pretty old school but so am I! The beauty tips are pretty much the same as today.
And then it was the light. A lamp that gives a good evenly light. Unfortunately i have a window on the left side which isn't a good thing. But I can´t move the window so I got the same lamp that we have in the in and under the kitchen cabinets. And it worked great!
To organize inside the drawers I found little boxes that you can decorate yourself and decorated the boxes and the lids with white napkins with lite black polka dots on. I also used desk organizers from IKEA. In the two drawers at the bottom I put my jewelry (earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings). To prevent them from sliding around in the drawer I put some of the plastic from the IKEA-packaging in the bottom. I've sorted the makeup after brands and type of makeup. Check it out below =)

Makeup tissues (Always good to have). My Victoria´s secret bodylotion, hand disinfection, cotton swabs and a Mary Kay pen in one of the other striped boxes, shaped like a heart. The glass is from makeup store, got it at a club members-evening.

These cute little perfume bottles is actually a gift from my dad to my mom but I found them in a bathroom cabinet when I was younger and they've been decorating my makeup areas ever since. The two men's perfumes are my boyfriend´s but he never uses them so they got the seat next to the "ladies"

I have some sort of plan to do a video about this as well since it's kind of hard to explain it all in writing. But that´s the next project I guess. One step at a time. I hope you liked it. If you have any other tips or questions let me know. 

 

A working process

So Obviously it will take some time to get this blog together. Especially since my computer- and IT skills aren't the best. Thankfully I've got a great boyfriend who is kick as at it so with his help I'll hopefully make something good out of this. But be patient....

Anyway, I have plans to do a "second-start-post" and share with you where I do my makeup and my makeup storage, which also is a working process. I´m planning on redoing it and get some new drawers/furniture and add more space. When I follow a makeup blog or something similar I love to see the person´s makeup area. It's really fun to see the huge variety of organizing all things beauty.

Adding a bit more serious stuff. For those of you who don't know there is a huge wildfire going on a few miles (swedish miles) from here. It´s been going on for 6-7 days and is now the biggest wildfire Sweden has had (it´s still not under control). People have been evacuated and because of the wind the fire is spreading like 2 km/h. And this morning when I was at work the smoke reached this town. You couldn't see anything and the smell was awful! But as the wind turned it eased. The italian planes are held up in Poland because of bad weather (Yeah, right very funny!) But the french planes has now reached Sweden. I´ve seen 2 planes and helicopters flying by, probably on their way over there. So help has arrived and I think I speak for all of Sweden when I say "so thankful for good cooperation" and "please let it rain here!!". What is more ironic is that in Stockholm the rain has caused flooding....hmm...Well not much to do, the air is much better now so I've opened the balcony door to let some cool air in. Looking forward to some fresh sea breeze

Oo! I just heard thunder...does that mean rain? If not hopefully the lightning won´t cause more trouble.

Start post vs MAC haul

Hello everybody!

What better whay to inaugurate this blog then to do a first post about my latest MAC haul...?
Well, for you who don´t know me I´m very excited to finally find a way to get a hold of the great work of MAC, fast and easy. Where I live the makeup stores don´t have a large assortment of MAC products and MAC:s official website do not ship outside the United states. However one of the biggest makeup stores here in Sweden, Kicks, has a big assortment of MAC on their website...Wohoo!...

So as a first order I got two eyeshadows in Pink Venus and Shroom, the MAC Fix+, and a false lashes adhesive, called Duo Adhesive. The second order consisted four eyeshadows in Aquadisiac, Electra, Espresso and Moon´s Reflection.
Every order seems to contain a little giftbag, which is kind of neat I think, with one or two products or a test of a product. In my bag there was a perfumetest and a showergel with a scent of clean laundry.

MAC Fix+

Some tips for uses of the products mentioned above:
The Fix+ is a great fixingspray, use to set your makeup or to set loose eyeshadows or glitter. You put it on by spraying it on your eyelid or wherever you want to "fix" someting. An alternative is to spray the fix+ on a large shading brush, like the E60 by Sigma and then pat it on the eyelid.
There´s not much to say about the false lashes adhesive I guess, since the name kind of says it all...And I haven´t tried it yet so I can´t give a fair review.  =)
The Espresso, Shroom and Moon´s Reflection eyeshadows are pretty basic and suitable all year round. With the combination Shroom and Espresso you can create a beautiful everyday, go to look for all seasons.
The color Pink Venus is perfect for a flirty valentines day look. Aquadisiac is a pretty summery teal color. When it comes to the silvery/ grey Electra, it is perfect parties or for winter. Add a really black eyeliner and mascara and you get a cool frosted look, perfect for a cold winter day.
